Hector Fernandez-Lahore
Professor of Biochemical Engineering
Department of Life Sciences and Chemistry
Jacob University, Bremen, Germany
To briefly refer to my academic and professional development pathway, I have obtained my Diploma in Biochemistry (1986), a further professional qualification in Industrial Pharmacy and Biochemistry (1992), and a Doctoral Degree in Biotechnology (1995). On top of that, and before I decided to commit to an academic career, I have worked for the private sector in middle-management positions. After the successful finalization of my Doctoral Degree, I have spent 2+ years as a postdoctoral researcher (1997 – 1999), continued as a Group Leader (2000 – 2003), and became Professor in 2003 at Jacobs University (Germany). Since then, I have been advancing my career to a point in which I can offer a very well rounded, internationally recognized, academic and professional profile. The possession of advanced training and sophisticated skills has already allowed me to successfully navigate the Latin American and the European systems. I have managed to build up a 20+ PhD student group, a number of which has been graduating to occupy relevant positions in academia and industry.
