Dr. Nuno Craveiro Lopes is the Director of the Orthopedic Trauma Service of the Hospital Garcia de Orta, Almada since 1991. In 1987 he obtained a post-graduate degree in Child Orthopedics at the University Hospital of Saint Justine, Montreal, Canada, and later in 1994 finished the course in Hospital Management. He has done experimental and clinical research in various areas such as Ilizarov’s methodology and Legg-Calvé-Perthes’s disease. He has given 340 presentations at national and international congresses, and has already seen his work published 67 times in specialty magazines. He has been distinguished with several awards from the Sociedade Portuguesa de Ortopedia e Traumatologia (SPOT) and other renowned institutions. He is a member of various societies in the area of Orthopedics, having been a member of the SPOT’s Board in 1999-2000 and becoming the coordinator of its Biomechanics Section in 1999. He was a Guest Professor at several Universities abroad and is now Elected President of the ILLRS (International Lengthening and Reconstruction Society).

O Dr. Nuno Craveiro Lopes é Director do Serviço de Ortopedia e Traumatologia do Hospital Garcia de Orta, Almada desde 1991. Em 1987 fez uma pós-graduação em Ortopedia Infantil no Hospital Universitário de Saint Justine, Montreal, Canadá, e mais tarde em 1994 terminou o curso de Gestão Hospitalar. Tem feito investigação experimental e clínica em diversas áreas como a metodologia de Ilizarov e a doença de Legg-Calvé-Perthes. Já realizou 340 apresentações em congressos nacionais e internacionais, e já viu o seu trabalho publicado por 67 vezes em revistas da especialidade. Foi galardoado com diversos prémios da Sociedade Portuguesa de Ortopedia e Traumatologia (SPOT) e outras instituições de renome. É membro de várias sociedades da área de Ortopedia, tendo sido membro da Direcção da SPOT em 1999-2000 e desde 1999 é coordenador da sua Secção de Biomecânica. Foi Professor Convidado de várias Universidades no estrangeiro e é actualmente Presidente Eleito da ILLRS (International Lengthening and Reconstruction Society).
