NMR of small molecules in aligned media - Workshop

The workshop organised by the NMR Unit at the Chemistry Department of Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia - Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT-UNL), Monte da Caparica (Portugal) is intended to provide theoretical and practical training in important aspects of aligned media for structural elucidation of small molecules and the measurement of residual dipolar couplings (RDC). The emphasis of the training will be on setting up experiments on the spectrometer (optimizing parameters, pulse programs), preparing samples as well as processing and analysing NMR data.

Since it is impossible to teach all the necessary theoretical background of modern NMR spectroscopy in such limit of time it is required prior knowledge on basic understanding of NMRTherefore, the course is aimed for PhD students, postdocs and technicians who have some working knowledge of NMR theory.

The workshop will also be an opportunity for students to discuss and present their current research interests and possibilities of using RDC on their own research subjects. Therefore, participants will have an afternoon session where they are invited to give a short presentation (10 min) on possible applications of RDC to enhance their own research.

For registration please send an email to: Dr. Angelo Miguel Figueiredo

Registrations will be opened until the 14th of December, however there is a limited number of places available for the workshop.

A registration fee of 50 euros will be charged at the registration desk on the first day of the workshop. Participants should cover their own travel and lodging expenses. Accommodation is not provided and participants will need to make their own arrangements.

Hope to see you in Caparica,

Eurico Cabrita
