Turism Information

Climate

Lisbon/Caparica has a Mediterranean climate that is strongly influenced by the Gulf Stream, giving it one of the mildest climates in Europe. Summer lasts until the end of September and the weather during this period is therefore pleasantly warm. Average temperatures: 17 – 26°C (62 – 79°F). Light clothing is suitable with somewhat warmer clothing for the evening.

There are no additional fees for the Summer Courses. The Summer School Dinner, however, is only free for participants who are graduate students and attend both courses.

Travel Information

Travel to and within Lisbon

Lisbon is easy to get to. It is a short flight away from most European cities, and is just as easily accessible by road, railway or sea. 
Lisbon International Airport, 7 km from the city centre, has daily flights to and from the major cities in Europe and the world. The Portuguese airline TAP-Air Portugal, as well as major international airlines, fly to and from Lisbon.

Social Program

Sunday, July 28, 18:30-20:30: MOS Welcome Reception

The MOS Welcome Reception will take place at the Entrance Hall of the Department of Mathematics. Typical Portuguese tapas will be served to all participants, accompanied by the sound of a live performance of a Portuguese guitar. Not to be missed as the food will be great!

The meeting is organized by a local and a national team.  The local team is essentially from CMA (Center of Mathematics and Applications), Universidade Nova de Lisboa. The national team integrates Portuguese researchers from several universities.

ICCOPT 2013 - Caparica - Lisbon - Portugal

ICCOPT 2013, The Fourth International Conference on Continuous Optimization, will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from July 27 to August 1, 2013, on the campus of the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa. ICCOPT is a flagship conference of the Mathematical Optimization Society, organized every three years.
