Julio Fernandez Cestau got his PhD summa cum laude in 2011 at Universidad de La Rioja under the supervision of Prof. Elena Lalinde and Dr. Jesús Berenguer. From 2011 to 2014 he was Associated Researcher in the same institution. In 2014 he moved to the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich (UK) to work as Senior Post Doctoral Research Associate to the ERC project 338944-GOCAT, under the supervision of Prof. Manfred Bochmann. In August 2018, he joined the group of Dr. Rubén Costa in IMDEA Materials with a Marie Curie fellowship. His research background in Chemistry has a particular emphasis in Au(III) and Pt(II) and includes Catalysis, Luminescent Supramolecular systems, and Anticancer drugs. In materials sciences he has work in the implementation of organometallic and coordination complexes in LECs and OLEDs
