Simone dell' Acqua

Simone Dell’Acqua obtained the degree in Chemistry from the University of Pavia (Italy) in 2006. In January 2011, he obtained his PhD degree from the New University of Lisbon (Portugal). In March 2011, he was a visiting scientist at the Inst. of Biochemistry at the Freiburg University (Germany) granted by a EMBO short term fellowship. In 2011 he was a Post-Doctoral fellow at the Dept. of Chemistry at the University of Pavia in the group of Prof. Luigi Casella. Since November 2011, he is assistant professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the Dept. of Chemistry, University of Pavia. In 2018 he received the habilitation for the role of associate professor. His scientific interests are in the field of Bioinorganic Chemistry, in particular in the activity of copper- and iron- enzymes. More recently, his research has been directed toward the understanding of the molecular basis of neurodegenerative diseases, with particular emphasis on of the metal-dependent oxidative processes.
