Ana Jacinta Soares is an Integrated Member of the Centre of Mathematics at the University of Minho and an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the same institution.
She received her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Coimbra in 1997. Her research interests cover various topics in Kinetic Theory of Mixtures, analysis of PDEs, and Mathematical Modeling of Biological, Physical, and Ecological Systems. Within these scientific domains, she has supervised some M.Sc. and 3 Ph.D. students, with another Ph.D. theses in progress. Additionally, she has numerous international collaborations, primarily with mathematicians, but also with physicists and engineers. She has been involved in several research projects and also in organizing relevant and prestigious meetings. She has a particular interest in industrial mathematics and knowledge transfer to industry, which is reflected in her strong involvement with PT-MATHS-IN, organization of industrial meetings, and participation in industrial projects. She had various administrative and management roles at the University of Minho and within the mathematics community.
