IIC-S&ECC 2021: The Faces of Conservation

The International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works’ Student & Emerging Conservator Conference (IIC-S&ECC) series has been bringing together conservation students, emerging conservators and conservation professionals from all over the world since 2011. These conferences aim to help recent graduates and those studying in the field of conservation or related to develop their future career goals and to gain valuable career advice from those who have trodden the path before them. IIC-S&EC conferences provide a unique environment for participants to share their experiences, their motivations and their doubts with one another. Activities such as studio visits, interactive "round table" presentations and social events offer invaluable networking opportunities and are included in the conferences.

The 6th edition of IIC-S&ECC has been entitled “The Faces of Conservation'' and is being organised by a local committee from the NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT-NOVA), in Lisbon, Portugal. It will take place on the 14th, 15th and 16th of October 2021.

Given the current pandemic situation, this year’s conference will have an online format - using Zoom - which will help us to continue to provide these wonderful opportunities for international exchange. The online format will also allow us to ensure the participation of a global audience and open up new horizons for learning opportunites and engagement, which have always been the foundation of these conferences.
