Periodic Table Challenge

Patchwork, info about the authors inspiration here and photos here!

The FCT NOVA is invited to produce one square (30 x 30 cm) referring to one of the 118 chemical elements. On a basis "first arrived / first served", the members of the Faculty choose a chemical element (after registering, see below), as the motif of the work to be proposed. Imagination will drive the artwork (tiles, wood, drawing, canvas, painting, laser cut, 3D plotting, carving, tissue, needling, etc… sky is the limit). The symbol and the atomic number of the chemical element must be present in the artwork.
Works, once assigned, must be delivered by December 15, 2018.
The 118 squares will be, then, assembled as a large patchwork to be installed at the entrance of the Chemistry Department.
Register to participate here.

If you have any doubts, contact Luisa Maia.

Installation opening February 20, 2019 - 15h30, with the presence of the Vice-President of IUPAC, Christopher Brett (University of Coimbra - Portugal), who will present, in the same day, a communication in the "Elemental Talks on the Periodic Table" series (more details here).

The collaborative patchwork will be displayed during 2019 (see where and when here).
